Education

The Institute for Marine and Atmospheric research Utrecht provides the following teaching programmes:

  • PhD Program

Students graduating from the Master's in Meteorology, Physical Oceanography and Climate (MPOC) will have ample opportunities to find employment. The strong connection with the PhD program embedded in the Buys-Ballot Research School provides a good opportunity for students (currently more than 50%) to continue in that direction after their MSc.

  • Master Program

Through a two-year research Master's programme, Meteorology, Physical Oceanography and Climate (MPOC) talented and motivated students become researchers with a solid grounding in the field of meteorology, physical oceanography and climate. It focuses on the fundamental physical processes that make up the Earth's climate system, on theoretical, observational and computational knowledge of the atmosphere, oceans, cryosphere (ice), biosphere and on their interactions. read more

  • Under Graduate

Within the bachelor programme of Physics and Astronomy IMAU provides for several optional courses, such as 'Atmosphere and Climate' and 'Hydrodynamics and Turbulence'. It is also possible to combine several of these courses into a minor. read more

  • Minor

A minor is a coherent set of courses, which the students can choose in their bachelor programme. IMAU provides for two minors: "Meteorology, Physical oceanography" and "Climate and Climate Physics"
